I believe that I was created by my Father in Heaven, who continually calls me by name, to share his love in a personal and intimate relationship with him. I confess I have freely chosen to reject this relationship each and every time I sin. By my sin, I have separated myself from my Father. There is nothing I can do on my own to breach this separation. No amount of good works will repair the relationship I have broken by my sin.
Despite my sin, my Father continues to love me unconditionally and in his desire to restore me to relationship with him sent his son, Jesus, the Christ to personally atone for my sins and for all of the sins ever committed on this Earth. Through his life here on Earth Jesus revealed to us the Father himself and demonstrated for us the love the Father has for us. By his death on the cross, Jesus, in offering the perfect sacrifice as both God and man, atoned for all the sins of mankind.
By His Resurrection from the dead, Jesus defeated the powers of sin and death and enabled us to enter into a New Creation here on Earth. Through our Baptism, we die to our former lives of sin and start to be resurrected with Jesus as adopted sons and daughters of our Father in Heaven. In our Baptism, we are made part of the Body of Christ, with Jesus as our head.
Jesus ascended into Heaven to allow the Holy Spirit, the very love that exists between the Father and Son, to come into our lives and to guide us on our path to Holiness. By his death, resurrection and ascension into Heaven Jesus has made it possible for us to be restored to a newer and more intimate relationship with our Father in Heaven and to join into the Trinitarian love that exists between the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
What I need to do is to accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior and cooperate with his saving grace. By accepting Jesus as my Lord and Savior I give myself completely to him, trusting him as he leads me here on Earth on my way to my Father in Heaven. I exhibit this trust in Jesus by allowing his love to work through me and with me, to draw all around me into a life of holiness.
I hereby promise to do everything in my power to grow into a deeper and more intimate relationship with Jesus and the life of holiness he calls me to. I can find Jesus and the graces offered me to help me in this relationship in daily Scripture readings, a daily prayer life, frequent attendance at daily Mass, receiving the Sacraments, especially Reconciliation and the Eucharist and in the community of the Body of Christ.
Father in Heaven, continue to pour your Spirit into me and give me the strength to accept your son Jesus as my Lord and Savior and as your adopted son and daughter to live a life of holiness that will draw all those around me to the life of eternal Trinitarian love promised to all who believe.
